Remote legal assistance from the Republic of Moldova
Moldovan Lawyer for Clients in Portugal
The Law Office of Attorney Bîrcă Ludmila, based in Chișinău, works with anyone who needs a lawyer from the Republic of Moldova — whatever country you live in and whatever your citizenship. This page speaks to people in Portugal because many clients search by their country of residence, but our services are not limited to any single community. If you have a legal matter connected to Moldova and you are in Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Braga or anywhere else in Portugal, we can work together entirely at a distance.
I work with clients from any country — wherever you need a lawyer from Moldova.
We help clients from any country
First, an important point: Attorney Bîrcă Ludmila assists clients worldwide, not only those in Portugal. Reaching this page does not mean we work exclusively with people settled in Portugal — we serve Moldovans abroad, foreign nationals with interests in Moldova, and anyone who needs a lawyer from Chișinău.
With 15 years in practice, a Master of Laws from the State University of Moldova (USM), and five years (2006–2011) as a state specialist in consumer protection, every matter is handled with care and discretion. We work in Romanian, Russian and English, so you can explain your situation in the language you are most comfortable with.
Why the community in Portugal reaches out
The Moldovan community in Portugal is growing, and many who have moved keep strong ties to home: a house or plot of land left in Moldova, an inheritance opened after a relative's death, civil-status records needed for local procedures, or a business they want to start back home. Distance and work schedules make it hard to travel to Chișinău for every formality.
The examples below reflect this community's common needs, but they are not a limit. If your situation is not listed here, write to us anyway — in most cases there is a remote solution.
- Power of attorney (procură) to act on your behalf in Moldova
- Obtaining documents and civil-status records from Moldovan archives
- Inheritance and succession under the Moldovan Civil Code
- Real-estate transactions and disputes
- Representation in civil and commercial litigation
- Debt recovery
- Company formation for non-residents (Law 220/2007)
- Residence, immigration and citizenship matters connected to Moldova (Law 200/2010)
How remote work functions
Most matters can be handled without your returning to Moldova. The usual starting point is a power of attorney (procură) authorizing us to act on your behalf before institutions, notaries or courts.
The power of attorney can be prepared in two ways: before a notary in Portugal, followed by an apostille (Hague Convention), or free of charge at a consular office of the Republic of Moldova. For CIS states and countries with which Moldova has legal-assistance treaties, a power of attorney may be recognized even without an apostille — we will check the regime that applies to your case.
We begin work from scanned documents, and originals can be sent later by courier when they are required. Consultations take place via WhatsApp, Viber or Zoom, in Romanian, Russian or English. We account for the time difference — Moldova is in the EET zone, one hour ahead of mainland Portugal — and arrange meetings at convenient times for both sides.
Main areas of work
Depending on the matter, assistance may include advice, drafting documents, representation before authorities and courts, and coordination with notaries, registrars and archives in Moldova.
- Inheritance: opening the succession, accepting or renouncing, division of the estate
- Real estate: purchase and sale, registration, checking the legal status of a property
- Documents: birth, marriage and death certificates, criminal-record extracts, archive records
- Business: company registration for non-residents, amendments, ongoing support
- Litigation: representation in civil and commercial cases, debt recovery
Indicative costs and timelines
Costs and timelines depend on the complexity of the matter, the documents available and the procedures involved. Any estimate given at the outset is indicative and is confirmed after a concrete review of your situation.
We follow the ethical rules set out in Law 1260/2002 on the legal profession and the Bar Code of Conduct: we make no guarantees about outcomes, use no superlatives and draw no comparisons with other lawyers. We give you an honest assessment of your options, the risks and the steps ahead.
