Ludmila Bîrcă

Attorney in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova

I represent individuals, entrepreneurs and companies before the courts and authorities of the Republic of Moldova, and I work with Moldovans living abroad. Before a file is opened I read the documents and tell you which options are open, what each one involves, and what can no longer be done.

Most cases are not lost in the courtroom. They are lost earlier: in a contract signed without being read, in a deadline that passed, in a statement given without a lawyer present.

That is why a first meeting is not a pitch but a reading — of the documents, of the dates, and of what can still be done. Sometimes the conclusion is that a claim is not worth bringing. That is a useful consultation too.

Who will represent you

I entered law in 2006, through consumer protection, and have practised as an attorney since 2015. Those nine years on the other side of the counter — in the dealings between consumers, traders and public authorities — are why I have a fairly clear picture of how a state institution moves, and where a file gets stuck.

The office is small by choice. You deal with the lawyer who takes your case, not with an intermediary.

Writing on the law of the Republic of Moldova

Written explanations of the situations that most often reach the office: procedures, deadlines, documents, and what can concretely be done.

Moldovan Citizenship: Routes, Requirements and Procedure

Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova can be acquired by several distinct routes, and choosing the correct legal basis is the single most important decision in the whole file: the same applicant can be refused under naturalisation and admitted under recognition, depending on their origin. This guide explains every ground provided by the Citizenship Law of the Republic of Moldova No. 1024/2000 — birth, recognition, naturalisation, restoration and adoption — the conditions attaching to each, the documents required, how the procedure runs, and why Moldova permits dual citizenship. It is written for the diaspora and for foreign nationals, from a practitioner's perspective.

Clients abroad

Many of the office's clients are not in Moldova. A divorce, an inheritance, a company or a civil-status document still has to be dealt with here, under Moldovan law.

In most cases you do not need to travel: a correctly drawn power of attorney, apostilled or legalised at a consulate, lets me act for you before the courts and institutions of the Republic of Moldova.
